πΏ Discovering Biodiversity Through Citizen Science
There is a whole world moving around us often unnoticed πΏ
A bird calling from a tree π¦
A plant growing between two paths π±
An insect moving through the soil π
Each observation can become a small piece of a much larger picture.
Join us at AuroOrchard for an experiential exploration of citizen science, biodiversity, and climate resilience π
We’ll discover how everyday observations can contribute to citizen science, learn the basics of the iNaturalist app, and explore the DPSIR framework as a way of understanding the relationships between human activity, environmental change, climate impacts, and possible responses.
πΆ Together, we’ll take a guided walk around AuroOrchard, observing and documenting the biodiversity we encounter along the way.
This is an invitation to slow down, look closely, and see the land through a different lens.
π€ Facilitated by Andres Acosta
Andres has experience applying the DPSIR framework to ecosystem resilience, climate extreme events, drought impacts, and management under future climate scenarios. He has also worked with citizen science monitoring and holds a BSc in Ecology. He is currently completing an MSc in Biodiversity, Wildlife and Ecosystem Health at the University of Edinburgh. He is also an Editorial Board Member of the Open Journal of Biodiversity & Ecosystems and Chair of the Forest Ecology SIG of the British Ecological Society.
